MACEDON, Kingdom of, Alexander III, (336-323 B.C.), silver drachm, (4.286 grams), Magnesia mint, issued 319-305 B.C., obv. head of Herakles to right wearing lion skin, dotted border, rev. Zeus seated on throne to left, eagle in outstretched hand, torch with fillets to left, AT monogram under throne, **ALEXANDRP[OU]* to right, (cf.S.6730, Price 1955 [p.268, Pl;.CXXX], BMC 1955, M.-, SNG Lockett 1504). Lightly toned, good very fine and rare.
