CELTIC, Eastern Celts, Kapostal region (this region in the angle between Danube and Drava rivers, probably an issue of the Andizetes tribe), 1st century B.C., (8.45 grams), AE tetradrachm, obv. crude helmeted and bearded head to right within dotted border, rev. horse with rider to left, crescent before, 8 on side below, (cf.Allen 45 [p.50, Pl.5), Sammlung Lanz 775-792 [p.137-9 with weights from 6.8 - 9.8 grams], Gobl No.484/7, Pl.39, Castelin 1234-5, Pink 491). Dark brown patina, very fine or better and rare.
The final evolution of Philip II tetradrachms in copper or billon alloy.
