EGYPT, Kingdom of, Ptolemy I, (323-283 B.C.), silver tetradrachm, issued 305-283 B.C., (14.20 grams), Alexandria mint, obv. diademed head of Ptolemy I to right, with aegis, A behind ear, rev. eagle to left with closed wings, standing on thunderbolt, in front P over XAO monogram, around **BASILEWS PTOLEMAIOU*, (S.7762, Sv. 265, Meydancikkale Hoard 3141ff [dates issue as 289-288 B.C.) (illustrated); Ptolemy II, (285-246 B.C.), AE 23 (obol) (11.24 grams), Tyre mint, obv. diademed head of Zeus Ammon to right, rev. similar as above with club to left, (cf.S.7786, Sv. 708, Pitchfork 25). First coin with bankers marks and surface knocks, otherwise very fine; second coin fine. (2)
