ITALY, Bruttium, Caulonia (circa 525-500 B.C.), silver Nomos or stater, (7.67 grams), obv. above KAVL, naked Apollo walking right, holding laurel branch in upright right hand and small running daimon holding long branch, on outstretched left arm; to right, stag standing right with head reverted, O in left field, rev. Apollo and stag as on obverse but incuse to left, no ethnic. (S.252, Noe Group B, 27 (same dies); SNG Fitz.724 [same dies]; HN Italy 2036; Boston MFA 170 [same dies]). Toned, very fine and very scarce.
