ITALY, Bruttium, Croton (Kroton), (500-460 B.C.), silver stater or nomos (7.728 grams), obv. tripod, with QPOTON to right, tripod terminating in lion's feet, rev. eagle flying to right, incuse, (S.257, SNG ANS -, de Luynes 710 [same dies], Gulbenkian 126 [same obverse die], Gale -, Attianese -). Lightly toned, good very fine, surface slightly grainy and very rare with the full ethnic.
