SYRIA, Kingdom of, Antiochus III, (223-187 B.C.), AE17, (5.182 grams), Uncertain mint, issued from 223 B.C., obv. Macedonian shield with gorgon's head as the central device, rev. elephant walking to right, horizontal anchor above, below in exergue **[B]ASILEW[S], traces of **ANTIOCOU* underneath, K monogram between elephant legs, (cf.S.6881, SC 1089.3c, Newell WSM 795, SNG Israel (Spaer) 272 [Antiochus I]). Brown tone, good very fine and rare.
