GORDIAN III, (A.D. 238-244), silver denarius, (3.436 grams), Rome mint, obv. laureate bust to right of Gordian III, draped and cuirassed, around IMP GORDIANVS PIVS FEL AVG, rev. Venus standing to left,holding helmet and sceptre and resting on shield, around VENVS VICTRIX, (S.8683, RIC 131, RSC 147). As struck, golden blue tone, extremely fine.
