GUERNSEY, Bank of Guernsey, Bishop de Jersey & Co., silver five shillings, 1809 overstruck on a Charles IIII Mexico City Mint eight reales dated 179 (?), the obverse of the host coin is under the reverse (Pr.91; Mc.T1, KM.Tn1). Well struck with attractive blue grey and gold toning, good extremely fine and extremely rare, one of the finest of seven known and one of the world's rarest crowns.

Ex S.A.H. Whetmore (lot 223), R.J. Ford (lot 146) and W.J. Noble (lot 1547) collections. At the Whetmore Sale in London this coin realised £270 whereas the good extremely fine NSW holey dollar (lot 275) realised £105 and the Portcullis dollar (lot 11) now offered in this sale as lot realised £92.
