BOMBAY PRESIDENCY, Indian Design, Bombay Mint 1825-1831, in the name of Shah Alam II (A.H. 1173-1221, A.D. 1759-1806), regnal year 46, with privy mark of inverted crown below three pellets, (Pridmore privy mark No. 9), silver rupee, with clear regnal year 46, (P.280, KM.218.3). Nearly extremely fine, and extremely rare.
Ex Caldecott Sotheby Sale June 11, 1912 (lot 67 part) and Taffs Collection Glendining's Nov. 21, 1956, (lot 743), purchased from Spink & Son, London in December 1956 (15/-) and Colin E. Pitchfork Collection, Noble Numismatics Sale 48 (lot 2111). Pridmore in writing his book Volume 1: East India Company Presidency Series c. 1642-1835 knew of only this specimen which he cites, although he never examined the coin.
