MACEDON, Kingdom of, Alexander III, (336-323 B.C.), silver tetradrachm, (17.070 grams), 'Amphipolis' mint, issued c.323-320 B.C., obv. head of Herakles to right wearing lion skin with dotted border, rev. Zeus seated on throne to left, eagle in outstretched hand, to left Athena Promachos to right, ALEXANDROU* to right, (cf.S.6713, Price 105, BMC 105a-f, M.649, Demanhur Hoard 967-1013). Very fine.
