PELOPONNESOS, Sikyonia, Sikyon, AE 16, copper dichalkos, c.330-310/5 B.C. (Warren), 3.85 grams, Obv. Dove flying to left, holding olive spray in claw, Rev. wreath with ties Dove flying left, or alighting tied below, retrograde letters **QEU* in small letters low down within wreath, (cf.S.2787, BCD 307.5 [LHS Sale p.88]), cf.BMC 158, cf.SNG Cop. 90, Warren Group 5.6e, [p.7 Num. Chron. 1983]). Dark brown patina, good very fine, very Scarce.
Ex CNG as a web coin ($145) and from the BCD Collection, LHS Sale 96, May 2006 (lot 1775.20), acquired from the Malloy Mail Bid Sale XL, August 17, 1995 (lot 109) and previously from the William Turner (1792-1867) Collection (a British diplomat of the 19th century who toured the Levant 1812-1817 and this coin obtained on those travels), An this coming from Turner Catalogue by Alex Malloy (1988) No.80 with tickets. The William Turner Collection was sold at Glendinings London, May 27, 1987.
