PHOTO FRAME, handcrafted in oak, Victoria Cross photo frame (325mm x 315mm, depth 22mm), Dec 26.1899, with photo inset of H.R.Martineau. Very fine.

Sergeant Horace Robert Martineau, Protectorate Regiment. Served in South Africa, and in WWI he rejoined as a Lieutenant serving in the Transport Service with the Anzacs at Suez and Gallipoli. Awarded the Victoria Cross 26Dec1899, at Game Tree near Mafeking, South Africa (L.G.: 06Jul1900). Buried Otago, New Zealand.
