EGYPT, Kingdom of, Ptolemy VIII Euergetes, (145-116 B.C.), silver tetradrachm, Citium mint (in Cyprus), struck year 34 = 137-136 B.C., (14.184 grams), obv. head of Ptolemy to right with aegis, dotted border, rev. eagle to left on thunderbolt with closed wings, to left star over L**LD*, to right KI, around **BASILEWS PTOLEMAIOU**, (cf.S.7911, Sv.1590, SNG Lockett 3448 [This Coin], SNG Cop.601 var., Morkholm, Paphos 117 [Pl.10], BMC 46 [p.92]). Toned, nearly extremely fine and scarce.
