HADRIAN, (A.D. 117-138), silver denarius, issued 124, Rome mint, (2.100 grams), obv. laureate head to right of Hadrian, drapery on left shoulder, around IMP CASEAR TRAIAN HADRIANVS AVG, rev. P M TR P COS III around, Salus feeding snake rising from altar, (S.3525, RIC 98, BMC 207, RSC 1151); another, issued 128, (3.386 grams), obv. HADRIANVS AVGVSTVS P P, laureate head to right, rev. COS III around, Roma Virtus seated to right on cuirass and shield, holding spear and parazonium, (S.3472, RIC 163, BMC 368, RSC 337b). Second with obverse scrape, otherwise fine, and scarce variants.
Ex Spink Australia Auction Sale 21 (lot 1896 part). The Reka Devnia hoard of 81,044 silver coins contained 5892 coins of Hadrian, it contained 28 coins of first type and 6 of the second type.
