SOUTH AUSTRALIAN RAILWAYS, Member of Parliament Pass (22mm) in gold (9ct?) 7 gms with loop suspension. Reverse engraved, Capt Randell / M.P. Small edge bump at 1 o'clock otherwise very fine and scarce.

William Beavis Randell (1824-1911) was born in England and emigrated to South Australia with his parents. In 1853 he was responsible for construction and operation of the Mary Ann, the first paddle steamer on the River Murray. Later he became the local member of parliament for his hometown constituency of Gumeracha. An historically important item.
