PEEK & CAMPBELL TEA STORES, Sydney penny, 1852 (A. 427) by J.C. Thornthwaite. Slightly double struck on the reverse, old scratching in field behind Britannia, attractive brown patina, good extremely fine and extremely rare, possibly the finest known. This specimen was first seen at the Australian Numismatic Society exhibition of Sydney Town Hall in February 1966 where it was photographed by G.C. Heyde for his work Unofficial Coins of Australian and New Zealand published by Renniks, Adelaide, 1966 and illustrated on page 42.

Ex Noble Numismatics Sale 83 (lot 1061) and originally from the Family of Samuel Peek.
