SYRIA, Kingdom of, Alexander I Balas, (150-145 B.C.), silver tetradrachm, (16.214 grams), Seleucia on the Tigris mint, obv. diademed head of Alexander I to right, dotted border, rev. Zeus seated left on throne, holding Nike and sceptre, on right, **[BA]SILEWS [A]LEXANDROU* and to left QEOPATOROSU EUERGETOU*, in exergue monogram **PAR*, (cf.S.7030, SNG Israel I (Spaer) 1586, ACNAC Houghton 1004). Very fine.
