GROUP OF FIVE: Distinguished Conduct Medal (GVR) with Bar; 1914-15 Star; British War Medal 1914-18; Victory Medal 1914-19 with MID emblem; French Croix de Guerre avec Palme. 122 Pte C.P.Green. 10/AUS:I.F., on first medal 122 Pte C.P.Green. 10/Bn. A.I.F. on second medal, Lieut C.P.Green. A.I.F., on third and fourth medals last medal unnamed. Very fine.
DCM citation: 'For conspicuous gallantry on the 25th April, 1915, during the landing at Gaba Tepe (Dardanelles). He had reached shelter on the beach, when he saw a wounded man struggling in the surf, which was under heavy fire. Without hesitation he turned back, reached the man in the water, and brought him successfully to shore and subsequently to a place of shelter.' L.G. 6 September 1915, p.8852. C.G. 30 December 1915 p.3223. MID: submitted by General Ian Hamilton, Commanding Mediterranean Expeditionary Force 12 June 1915. L.G. 5 August 1915, p.7668. C.G. No 133, 28 October 1915, pp. 2736-7, recorded as No 122, Private C P Greene. Cyril Patrick Green embarked with 10 Battalion AIF from Adelaide on 20 October 1914 aboard HMAT Ascanius. At war's end he is recorded as Lieutenant C P Green, 50th Battalion. The bar to the DCM and the French Croix de Guerre avec Palme have not been confirmed. The medal group is mounted as it was worn by the recipient. A very important group of medals with a bravery award for the Gallipoli landing. With research. Ex Tom Hanley Collection.
