CIGAR CASE, in sterling silver, hallmarked Birmingham, 1855/56, maker A.T., engraved on case 'From / Hugh Glass Esq / to / Saml. H. Bindon / in / remembrance / of / Professional exertions / Melbourne / 1858'. Good very fine.

Hugh Glass (1817-1871) speculator, squatter and merchant in Victoria. Samuel Henry Bindon (1812-1879) Legislative Assembly for Castlemaine 1864, appointed Minister of Justice, Melbourne 1866, in 1869, Chairman of General Sessions, District Judge for Bairnsdale, Palmerston, Sale & Walhalla, in 1874 His Honour Judge County Courts, Gippsland and District.
