CHINA, small collection of eight coins, as described below presented in a book format by Margaret Scott (nee Wright), with descriptions; collection consists of uncertain period Chou Dynasty, Warring States, "Ch'ing" series, plain type, odd shaped medium of exchange and also known as "bridge money", (c.1000-500 B.C.), length 106 mm., (cf.Coole 6720, Vol.5 p.477, Not in Sch. or TFP); Chou Dynasty, Large "Ch'i" series (from the Duchy of Ch'i during the Chou Dynasty), Warring States, pointed type, (c.476-221 B.C.), five characters knife money, obv. Qi - Fa Hua (Qi legal money), rev. ten and Shang, length 187 mm, (Coole 6204 Vol.5 p.177, Sch.45, TFP 351-3, Hartill 4.6); another Ming knife (400-220 B.C.), length 140 mm, (cf.Coole 7226 Vol.6 p.132, cf.Hartill 4.cn); another straight knife (300-250 B.C.), length 125 mm., uncertain symbols (cf.Hartill 4.60-4.70); Flat handled round shouldered arch foot spade money (400-300 B.C.), height 64 mm., (Sch.1, TFP 301, Hartill 3.10); another similar but pointed foot spade (350-250 B.C.), height 51mm., (Hartill 3.93, TFP 105); another flat handled square foot spade, (350-250 B.C.), height 53mm., (Hartill 3.182, Sch 13-27, TFP 16); another Wang Mang (A.D. 7-22), similar spade with top hole, value 900, height 49mm., (Hartill 9.28, TFP 482-3). Mostly fine or better, several very scarce. (8)
