SWEDEN, Carl Linnaeus on his death, in bronze (52mm) by Ljungberger 1778, obv. bust to r. rev. female figure with animals. Extremely fine.

Carl Linnaeus (Latinised as Carolus Linnaeus)(1707-1778) was a Swedish botanist, physician and zoologist who laid the foundations for the modern scheme of Binominal nomenclature. He is known as the father of modern taxonomy, and is also considered one of the fathers of modern ecology.
