INDIA (BRITISH), Madras Presidency, ten cash, 1808 (KM.320), obverse brockage. Very fine and very rare, particularly as a shipwreck salvaged coin.

Ex Admiral Gardner, shipwrecked 25 January 1809, on Goodwin Sands, Kent, carrying a whole year's minting of East India Company copper coinage for Madras thus the coins were never circulated but most have some discolouration from being in the sea even though securely packed in wax sealed barrels. Purchased at Status Auctions No. 181 (lot 2348).
