LYCIA, Dynasts of Lycia. Uncertain. Circa 490-475 BC. silver Stater (9.130 grams). Obv. Pegasos flying left, T on hindquarters of Pegasos, Rev. Head of roaring lion left in incuse square. all within framed incuse square, (cf.S.5178-5183, Carradice, Spier "Lycian coins in the 'Decadrachm hoard', Pl.VII, No.10 [BAR 343], Falgera -, SNG Cop. -, SNG von Aulock 4081-2 (lion head facing) and Asyut 755-756 for similar types). Very fine and very rare.

Ex Triton Sale X, January 9-10, 2007 (lot 1525) with ticket. A new type similar to the specimen in the Emali, Turkey hoard (The Decadrachm Hoard).
