ITALY, Bruttium, Croton, (420-400 B.C.), silver stater, (7.486 grams), obv. eagle standing to left, on olive branch with open wings, KPOTONIATAN above, rev. tripod-lebes with neck and three handles, in field to right coiled serpent, to left a barley stalk, (cf.S.472, SNG ANS 355 [same dies]). Some surface flaking on the reverse, with attractive grey tone, very fine and rare.
