ROMANUS IV, (1068-1071), gold histamenon nomisma, (4.33 grams), struck at Constantinople mint, scyphate flan, Class I, obv. Christ standing on footstool, with nimbus crowning Romanus and Eudocia, rev. Constantine Michael VII in centre with Constantius and Andronicus, all on footstools, (S.1859, DOC 1). Cracked flan, good very fine and scarce.

Ex Ted Murphy Collection and previously from Noble Numismatics Sale 44 (lot 1288). Most unusual piece it has been struck with reversed orientation, the concave side being the three sons.
