LYCIA, uncertain Dynast issue, (520-500 B.C.), silver stater, (8.788 grams), obv. forepart of boar to left, both forelegs visible, O/A monogram on shoulder, rev. rough incuse square of undeveloped pattern, four lines crossing in centre, (S.3577 (?300), Asyut 743-5, BMC 6/8 [Pl.I, 5/6 mule of same dies], SNG Cop. 3 [Pl.1], Weber 7206 [Pl.258]). Toned, very fine, and very rare type of the earliest style reverse punch.

This is the first stage of the anonymous issues of Lycian dynasts and an early development in the reverse punch. The monogram on the rump of the boar is faintly visible.
