PALESTINE, Judaea, Second Revolt or Bar Cochba War, (A.D. 132-135), small bronze coinage, Group 3b, third coinage period, AE 17, (5.09 grams), undated issue of year 3 struck A.D. 134-5, obv. legend `For the Freedom of Jerusalem' bunch of grapes, rev. elongated palm tree of seven branches, around Hebrew legend `Shim`on', (S.5691, Mildenberg No.156, obv. die 4, rev. die 6 with more than 50 examples cited for this die combination, AJC 80 [p.276, Pl.28], BMC 63-65 [same dies], SNG ANS 584, H.738 [176], Herodian 767-770). Bronze with dark patina, very fine and very scarce.
