PALESTINE, Judaea, Second Revolt or Bar Cochba War, (A.D. 132-135), small bronze coinage, Group 3b, third coinage period, AE 20, (4.30 grams), undated issue of year 3 struck A.D. 134-5, obv. legend `For the Freedom of Jerusalem' bunch of grapes, rev. elongated palm tree of seven branches, around Hebrew legend `Shim`on', (S.5691, Mildenberg No.158, obv. die 4, rev. die 8 with more than 50 examples cited for this die combination, AJC 81 [p.276, Pl.28], BMC 103-108 [same dies], SNG ANS 589, H.739 [177], Herodian 767-770). Attractive uneven flan, dirty and dark patina, very fine and very scarce.
