PALESTINE, Judaea, Second Revolt or Bar Cochba War, (A.D. 132-135), Irregular or Barbarous medium bronze coinage, type B, third coinage period, AE 25, (9.73 grams), undated issue of year 3 struck A.D. 134-5, obv. legend `For the Freedom of Jerusalem' vine leaf, all within a border of dots, rev. palm tree of seven branches, below Hebrew legend `Shim`on', (cf.S.5687, Mildenberg No.220, obv. die 50, rev. die 55 with 2 examples cited for this die combination, cf.AJC 73 [p.275, Pl.27], H.736a [173a], Herodian 52 [p.95]). Cleaned, black patina, good fine and very rare.
