SUFFRAGETTE MEDAL 1909, engraved "Hunger / Strike", brooch bar suspension bar engraved "For Valour", two clasps, reverse of brooch bar impressed, "Toye. 57 Theobolds / Rd London". Reverse of first clasp, "Fed By Force 1/3/12", reverse of second clasp, "April 5th 1913", with suspension ring, reverse of medal, "Margaret / Macfarlane". All items, engraved. White silk lid lining of case gold blocked, "Presented To / Margaret Macfarlane. / By The Women's Social & Political Union / In Recognition Of A Gallant Action / Whereby Through Endurance / To The Last Extremity / Of Hunger And Hardship, / A Great Principle Of Political Justice / Was Vindicated." Extremely fine.
