GROUP OF SIX: 1939-45 Star; Atlantic Star; Africa Star, clasp "8th Army"; Defence Medal 1939-45; War Medal 1939-45; Royal Naval Long Service and Good Conduct Medal, GVI (1937-48). First five medals unnamed, J.102106 D.G.Munro. A.B. H.M.S.Wellington on last medal. Last medal impressed. Extremely fine.

J.102106 Petty Officer David George Munro joined the Royal Navy on 10 June 1923 as a boy serving on H.M.S. Hood. He advanced over the years to rank of Petty Officer and was awarded the Royal Naval LS&GC Medal on 10 June 1938. He was discharged dead on 19 June 1944 while serving on H.M.S.Malabar. Together with Petty Officer's bullion rank badge; Leading Seaman night uniform rank badge; Rangetaker 1st Class bullion qualification badge (2); fibre dog tag to D.Monro. SMN. DJ102106 (note incorrect spelling); Buffalo Lodge medals in official cases, one in silver and enamel from Diomede Lodge 6379 to Bro D.G.Munro installed to Second Degree, June 3rd, 1929, the other gilt and enamel from Diomede Lodge 6379 NZ32 to D.G.Munroe for Services Rendered 1929; a variety of navy certificates and documents including, Certificate of Service in RN, Conduct Sheet, Gunnery History Sheet, Certificate of the Inspector of Seamen's Wills, Certificate of Wounds and Hurts, a letter to Mrs Munro advising her husband's burial location at the Royal Naval Cemetery, Ireland Island, Bermuda; National Registration Identity Card (2, both different one for David Munro, the other for Gloria Munro); British Passport dated 1936 for Mrs G.M.Munro with official stampings between UK and NZ; a few other items. A comprehensive collection of a career RN sailor.
