FAMILY GROUP: Father, 1914-15 Star; British War Medal 1914-18; Victory Medal 1914-19. 352 Pte B.Taylor 15/Bn. A.I.F. on first medal, Lieut B.Taylor. A.I.F. on second and third medals. All medals impressed. Son, 1939-45 Star; France and Germany Star; War Medal 1939-45; Australia Service Medal 1939-45. First and second medals unnamed (as is common with Air Force groups), 414275 A E Taylor on third and fourth medals. Last two medals impressed. Additional unrelated medals with the family group are, 1914-15 Star, 8419 Pte D.A.Bacon Mach: R. and Victory Medal 1914-19, 36849 Pte. A.J.Kennedy. Sco. Rif. Both medals impressed. The first two groups, together with other related pieces are mounted in a specially built timber and glass display cabinet, the last two items are loose, very fine - nearly uncirculated. Andrew Edward Taylor, born 19Feb1921, Enl.17Aug1941 at Brisbane into RAAF, qualified as Sgt Pilot in Australia, promoted Warrant Officer Pilot, qualified as Flying Instructor on No. 17 F.I. Course No.2 Flying Instructors' School, KIA 30Jan1944, buried at Chester (Blacon) Cemetery in England, commemorated on the Roll of Honour at Mount Larcom, Queensland, his hometown. Together with the following, 1. ANZAC Commemorative Medal, 1967, engraved B.Taylor. 2. ANZAC Commemorative Medal, 1967, lapel badge, engraved B.Taylor. 3. RSL Life Member badge with bestowal certificate named to B.Taylor Esq and dated 14 May 1962. 4. WWI Returned from Active Service badge, Army Warrant Officer metal rank badge, Rising Sun hat badge and miniature Warrant Officer's Pace Stick with bullet head and casing at the ends, these all for B.Taylor. 5. WWI military binoculars by Crown Optical Company/Rochester N.Y. USA, Military Stereo/6x30, serial no.S2/28915, in damaged leather field case marked on the base, Ben Taylor/2nd Lieut. 6. Framed wedding photo of 2LT B.Taylor and his wife in nursing uniform outside church at Scotland, c.1917. 7. Warrant of Appointment parchment as WOII in Regular Forces from 10 March 1916 named to Benjamin Taylor and signed on 30 March 1917, addressed to B.Taylor as RQMS, 47 AIB (Queensland). 8. Appointment parchment as 2nd Lieutenant, Land Forces, from 21 July 1917 and signed on 15 April 1918 addressed to B.Taylor, 47 AIB (Queensland). 9. Appointment parchment as Honorary Second Lieutenant in Military Forces from 23 July 1917 and signed on 30 July 1923. Reverse shows promotion to Second Lieutenant on 1 July 1920 and to Lieutenant on 1 January 1923. 10. Framed story of Battle of Polygon Wood 1917 together with studio portrait of Lt B.Taylor, 15/Bn A.I.F. 11. Certificate of Appreciation from Shire of Longreach named to 2nd Lieut Benjamin Taylor, 47th Battalion and dated 25 April 1919 (ANZAC Day). 12. Queensland Civil Defence Organisation, Certficate of Service as a member of the Air Raid Wardens' Organisation of Queensland named to Benjamin Taylor and dated 30 April 1945. 13. Queensland Civil Defence Organisation, Certficate of Service as a member of the Auxiliary Ambulance Transport Organisation of Queensland named to Christina Tulloch Taylor (Benjamin Taylor's wife) and dated 30 April 1945. 14. Certificate of Appreciation from Shire of Calliope named to Andrew Taylor for enlisting in the RAAF and dated 23 June 1944. 15. Studio coloured photo of Sgt A Taylor in 'blues' uniform and wearing pilot's wings. 16. No.17 F.I. Course photo featuring Sgt A.E.Taylor. 17. Sixteen photos (15cmm x 20cm) featuring A.E.Taylor and others as RAAF trainee, as pilot with squadron and flying various aircraft types. 18. Memorial Scroll named to Warrant Officer A.E.Taylor, Royal Australian Air Force. 19. RSL 75th Anniversary Medal, 1991, in bronze (39mm). Apart from the parchments, all of the above documents are framed. Together with some research for WOFF A.E.Taylor. This lot presents a rare opportunity to acquire one of the most interesting and comprehensive sets of wartime documents and certificates, all relating to the one family, father, mother and son.
