MARCUS AURELIUS, (A.D. 161-180), silver denarius, Rome mint, issued A.D. 163-4, (3.426 grams), obv. laureate head of Marcus Aurelius to right, around M ANTONINVS AVG ARMEN P M, rev. around TR P XVIII IMP II COS III, ARMEN in exergue, Armenia with peaked cap seated to left, in attitude of sadness, holding bow and quiver, before her vexillum and shield, (cf.S.4881, BMC 278, RIC 85, RSC 6). Good very fine and scarce.

The Reka Devnia hoard of 81,044 silver coins contained 7716 coins of Marcus Aurelius and included only 5 coins of this variety.
