SYRIA, Kingdom of, Alexander I Balas, (150-145 B.C.), silver tetradrachm, (16.452 grams), Antioch mint, issued year 165 = 148-147 B.C., obv. diademed head of Alexander I to right, fillet border, rev. Zeus seated left on throne holding Nike with wreath and sceptre, on right, **BASILEWS* and **ALEXANDROU* and on left **QEOPATOROS* and EUERGETOU, under throne aphlaston, in exergue *EXR SIDW*, (cf.S.7030, SC 1829, SNG Israel I (Spaer) 1515-6, BN 880, Houghton ACNAC 714). Slightly off centre and flaw in exergue on reverse, otherwise nearly extremely fine, desirable and rare,
