GERMANY, Nordhausen Concentration camp, .01 mark note, with prefix '*', note No.003623, probably made in 1944, (Campbell No. 4021)l; together with block of 8 stamps sold by Polish Committee at Freimann for Social Welfare of Polish political prisoners in Concentration camps, Dachau, April 29, 1946. Good very fine and rare.
Ex Ceslovas Liutikas Collection. The Mittelbau work camp complex consisted of three camps located near Nordhausen. These were originally subcamps of Buchenwald but became independent in November 1944. Mittelbau is a contraction of Mitteldeutschen Baugesellschaft A.G. a company that used concentration camp labourers to manufacture rocket parts. It operated from 1943-1945. The notes are on watermarked paper.
