IONIA, Phocaea, electrum sixth stater or Hecte, c.440-430 B.C., (Bodenstedt indicates 438 B.C.), (2.466 grams), obv. head of Pan to left, with horn, rev. Incuse square quartered, (Bodenstedt 73 [p.149, Pl.7, 47, reports 3 specimens known from only 2 obverse dies and 3 reverse dies, these dies being obv. b, rev. **g*], SNG von Aulock 7950 [same dies]). Very fine and very rare.

Ex Munzen & Medaillen, Deutschland, Auction 9, October 4-5, 2001 (lot 260 illustrated) and previously from Munzen & Medaillen List 578 (1994) (no 17 550 SFr.). Type known from various similar types with only 2 obverse and 3 reverse dies. One specimen noted by Bodenstedt from these dies.
