JOHN V AND JOHN VI, (1347-1383), joint reign, gold hyperpyron (scyphate), Constantinople mint, (3.41 grams), obv. bust of Virgin within city walls and four towers, control letters B; A to left and right, rev. John VI and John V to left and right with Christ standing between both emperors, traces of partial legend downwards of each emperor, (S.2526 [ú850], Bendall PCPC 285 var.1, cf.DOC 1193). Flan flaw in field creating central hole, weak in places as usual, otherwise very fine.
