MACEDON, Kingdom of, Alexander III, (336-323 B.C.), silver tetradrachm, (16.77 grams), Mytilene mint, issued c.188-170 B.C., obv. head of Herakles to right wearing lion skin with dotted border, rev. Zeus seated on throne to left, eagle in outstretched hand, MY**Q* monogram to left above a chelys, **I* in exergue, to right **ALEXAND[ROU]*. (cf.S.6730, Price 1709, BMC 1709, M.-, SNG Cop.-). Very broad flan, nice style, extremely fine, very rare.
