L. CASSIUS LONGINUS, (63 B.C.), plated silver denarius, Rome mint, (3.14 grams), obv. Vesta veiled draped head to right, kylix behind, S before, rev. male standing left, dropping tablet into a cista, [L]ONGIN III behind, (cf.S.364, cf.Cr.413/1 [p.564, 287], Syd.936, B.Cassia 11). Very fine and very scarce.
Ex Raoul Phillips Collection. The issue with head to right on the obverse are always plated. It is believed that the issues are probably contemporary forgeries.
