GREEK, Italy, Latium, a terracotta Sima fragment of the late 2nd-1st century B.C., possibly made in Latium, of height 19.5 cm x 22.0 cm of thickness 2.0-2.8 cm, made from coarse micaceous clay containing numerous black, red and white inclusions with overall colour of pale brown; the subject shows Eros (?) naked except for a small shoulder mantle, floating over the waves beside a dolphin, in his right hand a torch. Fine.

Ex Mark Marshan Collection. Lot includes a description and authentification certificate by Dr. John-Paul Descoeudres (Archaelogist, formerly Sydney University), his description stated above and a Statutory Declaration on piece.
