ARETHUSA TRAINING SHIP GOOD CONDUCT MEDAL IN SILVER. Edward Turbey, engraved on reverse. Very fine and scarce.

Together with original presentation case by W.J. Taylor, Medallist; certificate of record of service for Edward Turbey No 135 from 11 September 1874 to 30 June 1875; a small medal of the Shipwrecked Mariners Society in base metal; and some research on the T.S. Arethusa which was set up in 1874 and moored astern of T.S. Chichester which had been established with Admiralty approval in 1866, to cater for training destitute children for employment as sailors.
