FAMILY GROUP: Father, (W.A.Cook), Queen's South Africa Medal 1899. Condr: W.A.Cook. A.S.C. Impressed. Son, (Pte L.Cook), British War Medal 1914-18; 1939-45 Star, Africa Star, War Medal 1939-45, Africa Service Medal. Pte. L.Cook S.A.S.C. on first medal, 87647 L.C.Cooke on last four medals. All medals impressed. Good very fine - extremely fine.
Research with group concludes that L.Cook (WWI) and L.C.Cooke (WWII) are one and the same since the latter was born 10Aug1900. He was Roman Catholic and in WWII he was posted to 1sr Batt. SA Irish on 17Jun1940 as a private, progressing through the ranks to Acting WOII on 01Jun1945.; Disch.25Oct1945 as medically unfit. Together with prize medal made from an Engliush George V shilling, reverse engraved, 'C.F.B. / S.A. Eisteddfod / 1920 / L.Cook'; WWII service chevron (5 years) red on khaki. With research.
