ZAYED FUTURE ENERGY PRIZE, gold medal of 22 carat, (230 grams, diameter 65mm), cased with presentation certificate to Martin Andrew Green, obv."Zayed Future Energy Prize" around and again in centre of field dated 2009; rev. in Arabic text and date 2009 with portrait of Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan, Founding Father of the UAE federation, the presentation certificate states "Certificate of Appreciation The Zayed Future Energy Prize Jury hereby names Martin Andrew Green. The finalist for the First Annual Zayed Future Energy Prize. In honour of innovation and commitment in alternative energy. On the nineteenth day of January in the year two thousand nine in the Abu Dhabi United arab Emirates, Director General Dr. Sultan A.Al Jaher." Uncirculated and unique.

Presented to Prof. Martin A. Green, (born 1948) who is Scientia professor (ARC Photovoltaics Centre of Excellence, School of Photovoltaic and Renewable Energy Engineering) at the University of New South Wales (UNSW) who works intensively with the development of the use of solar energy. He was born in Brisbane and was educated at the selective Brisbane State High School, graduated from University of Queensland and completed his PhD on a Commonwealth Scholarship at McMaster University in Canada, where he specialised in solar energy. In 1974, at the University of New South Wales, he initiated the Solar Photovoltaics Group which soon worked on the development of silicon solar cells. The group had their success in the early 80s through producing a 20% efficient silicon cell, which now has been improved to 25%. He has published several books on solar cells both for popular science and deep research, and has been recognized with different awards including the above. He also serves on the Board of the Sydney-based Pacific Solar Pty Ltd. (now known as CSG Solar), as Research Director The Zayed Future Energy Prize was created in honour of the legacy of the late Founding Father and President of the United Arab Emirates, His Highness Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. The prize aims to inspire the next generation of global energy innovators to create solutions for the future. The Prize is awarded annually to individuals, companies or organisations that have made significant contributions in the global response to the future of energy, climate change and sustainable global energy resources. The prize includes $1.5 million prize money, a certificate and a gold medal.
