PETER II, (1727 - 1730), 1730 dated Medal or ’Memorial Rouble’ comprising 50 medals or pattern roubles in golden alloy, 50 medals or pattern roubles in polished pewter and 50 medals or pattern roubles in high grade copper, struck to a prooflike/proof finish in limited quantities, FDC. (150)

From a total mintage of only 975 pieces of each metal. As the grandson of Peter the Great, Peter II ascended the throne at the age of 12 in 1727. Prince Menchikov and the Russian Supreme Council were expected to run the nation until Peter’s majority, but in early 1730 Peter caught a severe chill during a military review, contracted smallpox and died after a few days.
