ELIZABETH (PETROVNA), (1741 - 1762), 1741 dated Medal or ’Accession Rouble’ comprising 50 medals or pattern roubles in golden alloy, 50 medals or pattern roubles in polished pewter and 50 medals or pattern roubles in high grade copper, struck to a prooflike/proof finish in limited quantities, FDC. (150)

From a total mintage of only 975 pieces of each metal. Elizabeth, granddaughter of Peter the Great, courted the support of the nobles and Russian army regiments before seizing the throne in 1741. She was indolent, indulgent and patronised the nobility, but her court was the most dazzling in Europe and she was widely respected by European leaders.
