From a total mintage of only 450 pieces of each metal. Alexander began to view himself as a military leader and he had several early foreign policy successes. He made peace with Britain, Prussia and the Holy Roman Empire, but he was distrustful of Napoleon Bonaparte whom he first saw as an ally, and later as an enemy who invaded Russia in 1812.
