ITALY, Lucania, Metapontum, (c.340-330 B.C.), silver nomos, stater or didrachm, (7.44 grams), obv. female head to left with hair bound up behind, rev. corn ear, META**PONTINWN* to left, ivy leaf to right, (cf.S.410 [Å“550], Noe 524 [same dies], Jameson 286 [same dies]). Minor surface polishing, otherwise nearly very fine and very rare type.
