L. PAPIUS CELSUS, (c.45 B.C.), silver denarius, Rome mint, (3.87 grams), obv. head of Juno Sospita to right, clad in goat’s skin, dotted border, rev. she-wolf standing right placing stick on burning brazier to right, with an eagle fanning the flames with its wings, [L] PAPIVS in exergue, CELSVS III VIR above, (S.461, Cr.472/1, Syd.964, RSC Papia 2). Slightly off centred, lightly toned, otherwise good very fine and very scarce.
