ITALY, Lucania, Metapontum, (c.300 B.C.), silver stater or nomos, (7.67 grams), obv. Demeter head wearing corn wreath to right, rev. ear of corn, META upwards to left, two tall amphoras on right, **FI* below leaf, (S.416, [Å“175], Johnston NN&M 164 series D4.17 [similar dies], SNG Ash. 791, SNG ANS 517). Toned, extremely fine and very scarce.
