GORDIAN III, (A.D. 238-244), AE sestertius, (18.61 grams), issued 241-243, Rome mint, obv. laureate bust to right of Gordian III, draped and cuirassed, around IMP GORDIANVS PIVS FEL AVG, rev. Jupiter standing facing, head to right, holding spear, around IOVI STATORI, S C across, (S.8710, RIC 298a, C.111). Green and brown patination, very fine/fine, scarce.
